Dating apps seems to be the common thread around my friends/acquaintances unfortunately. I a 35 year old male who recently moved back to the DC area for the third time.

It all depends on who you are and what you want, of course.

For what it's worth, I don't use dating apps and have had absolutely zero luck. DC (and its suburbs) will be a tough place to live if you're emerging from a depressive episode.

It obviously depends on how much you get out, but I wouldn’t say the city is dating friendly.

Most everyone sort of keeps to their groups or themselves out at bars.

Still it isnt really different from anywhere else with one caveat.

The big different I guess could be that DC tends to be full of highly educated people, unless you date true locals.

If someone is not meeting people in real life they like enough to date, they might use an app to expand the pool.

Isn't dating app use all about the particular person's circumstances though? Stuff like that, things that 10 or 20 years ago would’ve been common place.

Find groups you are genuinely interested in (photography , hiking etc) , maybe you’ll meet someone along the way, but don’t make that your focus. My experience is that the more skin in the game the platform requires, the better the result.
